So we have started our unit on geometry. It's not about just naming shapes any more! We started with learning about defining and non-defining attributes of shapes. We began this week with attributes of 2D shapes and next week, we will move on to 3D shapes. Here are a few pictures of the students working in pairs/groups to list the defining and non-defining attributes of a shape they were given. They did a great job! Defining attributes are the number of sides, description of the sides (length), how many corners, 2D/3D. Examples of non-defining attributes are the size, color, and position of the shape.
